Mr. Yacht at the Hiro Ballroom

Yacht performed last night at Hiro ballroom. The occasion was an art benefit auction that I knew nothing about. What I did know was that I had never seen anything quite like the performance of mr. Jona (pronounced John-a).

With his friend Claire manning the laptop and hidden behind us, the performance started as a hallucinigenic power point presentation. On the screen, a program guide, followed by well-timed slide changes, made Jona look like the emcee of the digital age. Then the music followed and a disco drenched Jon Heder-type sang around on stage with nothing but a mic and a cord. The audience was in awe, and I was in heaven.
