Bonde Do Role at Bowery Ballroom

Before beginning his set El Guincho told the audience about his recent performance at Mercury Lounge, and how nobody was dancing. He sympathized this reaction by stating, “I make dance music, and I hope all you will dance tonight”.
With that comment, and the experience of seeing him live (albeit in an extremely packed setting such as the back room of a hipster mecca) changed my perception of him to something closer to YACHT or maybe even Jamie Lidell? Thoughts?

I know, I know. Many of you don’t like the hype that surrounds the french duo. Understood. Label it amongst the woes of Vampire Weekend from the past six months. Regardless, I’m taking a large group of friends to see the show tomorrow at MSGTheater. Are you going?

STRAIGHT FROM COLUMBUS OHIO!
I had the chance to see Times New Viking for the first time last night at the Bowery. The ultra lo fi recordings made me wonder what kind of a live show the group would put on. Suprisingly, the minute and a half songs were just clear enough for the casual listener.
The energy of the band as they ran through their set (”Okay… song number four… okay, song number five…”) was right on, and resembled something of a house party than a legitimate concert. Perhaps that’s why she was excited when we spoke to lead singer outside that they were playing a show at Don Pedro’s this saturday. True to form.
New York kids, shall I see you this weekend?
